Default Functional ram air ducting

I'm really hoping one of the aftermarket folks creates some under hood ducting that will enable the hood scoops to be truly finctional. It appears it would not take much to creat duct work covering the dump tubes from the air scoops on the underside, then channel that ducting to flow over an open air box (in factory location) with some nice rubber sealing around it. Surely the ramairhood guys or G5 or someone can create this??

I suspect a few of us would be quite interested

I think this is pretty close to what you want

They just need to adapt the setup to a Challenger hood configuration.

The SRT engineers in the last Chat Session stated that the bends required to make the air scoops truly functional would be too restrictive for good ram air flow.

Here is their exact quote:

"The ducts in the hood do not go to the engine intake. They would be a restriction. The scoops have been fully water tested."

Thanks Lordfoul, I had not seen that. Looks to be easily adaptable, though would be nice to capture 2nd air scoop dump.

Cuda, interesting what SRT folks said. Though I'd be happy with any amount of cool air making it to the air box (however inefficinet) rather than just blowing around in the engine compartment.

To me that little funnel on the airraid looks very restrictive since it so small compared to the size of the filter.

Just my thoughts.

I would prefer to see some engineering data bit I doubt they have done any real testing. I hope I am wrong and it really does work.

Have not had the chance to inspect one yet, but understand what you're saying. On a related note, Cervini's ram air hoods are planning some stuff for the new Challenger, including underhood ducting. Yes!

Keep in mind the hood inlets were put there to help with engine cooling not just eye candy. During development the engineers experienced significant issues with engine compartment cooling. To help resolve that issue the inlet ducts were incorporated.

Very interesting. So the engineers do not experience the same problem with the 300 SRT8 which has the same motor but no hood scoop at all??
