Convertible is Dead!
Due to Chrysler's economic woes, it looks like the Challenger convertible model has been squashed. An amateur photographer took three photos ogf the convertible SRT concept car being trailored to the car crusher! See:

Was it even alive to begin with is my question. I have doubts that it would ever happen to be honest.

For those of you that had been around for a while, I mentioned in summer of 2007 that it was never going to happened because of some information I had received. The same reasons exist: Cost, Time, and low ROI due to low production run.
Like you guys said this has been dead for quite some time. I think that there are those out there that were really hoping that since Camaro was going to do it then maybe Challenger. The reality is that is was never going to happen to begin with, no matter what the Camaro had.
Of course we are just hoping these companies survive this financial crisis we have. Things have certainly changed.

From what I have picked up, Ma Mopar commissioned that job to coach builders ltd in florida to proto-type the set up. No paint work, all clean.
After it's show stopping, head turning, and award winning style was over at SEMA, Chrysler called it home for review. It is rumored that the reason for the call home was to be destroyed! The builder was not warned as other shows were scheduled...
Now it gets interesting...there is rumor that they are building a follow up car for the 09 SEMA show...I can't find pics and I have no proof, but the rumors have been floating around recently. Supposedly it will be retribution for the lost car.
I had a friend who works at a Dodge dealer run the vin on Droptop....it does not exist, but he noted that would not be uncommon to remove a specialty built show car from the database.
If you know anything, post it here.

For those who just have to have a convertible Challenger, and can't let it rest...........call Mr. Norm and he will build you one at a price that's "a few dollars over" the price of a stock Challenger......
(And of course there are other coach builders out there that will build one for you as well, if you have a few extra dollars just sitting around). $$$$$$$$$
