On another note, I'm kind of happy to only have a ding. My wife was heading out somwhere yesterday and saw a white Challenger on the back of a flat bed. Apparently he thought he had more horsepower then what he really did and got side swiped. Totaled the car.

I saw someone do this the other day, coming out of a Ford Quicklube, decided he didn't want to wait and flew across the other side of traffic. Looks like he broke the back end loose a little also, but that was almost the least of his worries. I thought for sure the idiot was going to get slammed. You would think you would be a little more careful with a car like this. Figured I would see this more out of the Mustang crowd not the Challenger crowd.

What did you say about the Mustang crowd?? [:@]

Just yankin' your chain. Maybe the quick lube got oil on the tires...at least that would be the excuse I would use whether in my Mustang or my Challenger

ORIGINAL: I don't get people and not caring. Let me smack their car around and see if they start caring or not.
Problem is that person probably would not give a damn about what you might do to his or her car. To them, a car is probably just a way to get from point A to point B.

This is true, about the person not caring about what happened to their car. Kind of sad if you ask me.

As for the Mustang crowd, well, you know how they are. lol. That's what I traded in actually. Actually, what I was thinking is the Mustang is cheaper then the Challenger so you figure that you have more of idiots out there buying these cars as opposed to the Challenger. What this means is that you have a younger crowd getting into a decently powerful car.

The problem is that if they don't have much experience out there that they may be overconfident and think that their car can outrun the on comming traffic; that they think they have more power then what they do. This oddly enough haven't been the case, at least not what I have heard and seen so far with the Challengers, and there are less of those on the streets so I'm baffled. Maybe if I pulled statistics then this would be different, but as far as what I'm seeing in the real world, this isn't the case.

It,s all about cubic inches Axel, and the Mustang ain,t got it.Like the old sayin goes. THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT! I feel for you man, savin your pennies, and takin muscle over a house. Now,that,s a true gearhead. But,to have to worry about parkin everyday, and no garage, and using as your daily transportation. That would put me in the nuthouse.[]

Ridge Runner, I probably should not say this here but having both an 09 Challenger R/T and a 06 Mustang GT, stock vs. stock, I still think the Mustang GT is quicker, regardless of the extra 75 HP and .9 L difference in engine size. I've already lost some stop light runs against my fellow Mustang GT owners when I had been in my Challenger.

Granted, the 5.7, being larger, probably has more potential if all of the right mods are thrown at it.

But again, until the R/T has some mods, it is only a drivers race as to shich car would come out on top in a confrontation.

And do not forget, those Mustangs have been around for a bit longer than the Chalenger so they are probably allready sporting some mods.

After saying all that, I still think the Challenger is an awsome car.

I will have to agree. The driver thing probably comes in a big here as I've noticed that I take it a bit slower with this six speed. It terms of acceleration, I do think the Mustang has it just a little bit. Weight is a big killer of that displacement. As for everything else, I love the Challenger over the Stang. It just seems more comfortable, more room, better handeling. Overall I love the Challenger over the Mustang, but if the R/T had the 6.1L like the concept, it would have been a little more fun if you will, and more expensive.

Update on the ding. Outside of the paintless dent repair, about $125, it will be $513 to repair the door. It looks like there is a couple of dings in it also so that doesn't help, not just the one that I found. It's $713 if I go to a dealership, though the dealership was nice enough to give me some touch up paint to at least stopping it from rusting.

I did get a Viper two way alarm on it so if someone decides to hit it again, hopefully I'll be able to catch them and they'll be paying to fix it. I feel so violated and it doesn't feel like my car is as nice as it use to be.

Question if anyone can answer it. Being that they stick the clear coat on these rims, is it bad to get a hub scrub that some of these car washes have?

You've got the handling thing dead-on there Axel. The Challenger R/T definitely handles turns and rough roads better than a stock 2005-2009 Mustang GT. I have not driven a Mustang Bullitt but I suspect the Bullitt handles comparable to the Challenger R/T.

Comfort is another area I believe the Challenger has the upper hand. That and being able to handle 3 kids in the back seat.

I would have never believed it[&:] but you should know.Heck, I have a 94 Z-28 1LE that I bought new that has only mild bolt on mods and back in the nineties,I used to smoke em with ease on the strip, and on the street.[] I figured the R/T would blow my doors off.[] It looks like the camaro is goin to be the king when it comes out.You two guys, and some other posts here are really makin me give the Camaro some more thought.[]

Well, I do have to say, if all you are going for is out of the box performance and nothing else, the Camaro is it probably hands down. If you are going more for look and comfort, a little more breating room in the trunk and interior and can afford to do some bolt ons, then the Challenger is there for you. I will have to agree, the Camaro is impressive with power numbers, but I think that's where I'm no longer impressed.
