Default Headers

I'm going to go with MBRP exhaust system in a couple of weeks. Do I really need new headers too? What are the benefits? Is it worth the money?

If you have the 5.7 the headers will be well worth the money. I just installed my JBA shorty headers and while in the process, looked over the stock exhaust manifolds and they are rather restrictive. I have the 6speed which comes factory with the free flowing exhaust system and I still noticed a difference. I prefer the shorty headers because they are 50 state legal but unfortunately don't have the "sound effect" the long tubes provide. So to sum up, if you re gonna spend money on a complete system I would certainly replace the stock manifolds. Best of luck.

Cool. Thank you very much. Which headers get the most horsepower out of it? Some of the headers don't give the estimated horsepower gains. I don't want to spend a fortune because I'm getting the MBRP exhaust system. Basically, what are the best headers for the money.
Kooks? SLP? Dynatech? JBA?

That I am not sure of. You would have to compare prices and power gains. I went with the JBAs because they have the bigger primary tubes (1 3/4) and I went with the ceramic coating which helps reduce the amount of heat coming off the headers but these list for $795. I found them on Ebay for about $400. These headers only provide about a 10 hp gain by themselves but with the JBA exhaust they claim adds about 30HP or so. I used them because ,again, I have the freeflowing exhaust. Several others are much cheaper but again you must compare.

Thank you. Yeah, I did some research and decided to going with Dynatech Headers and MBRP exhaust. The Dynatech is supposed to get a +16HP gain and the MBRP is supposed to get a +29HP gain. Plus, I love the way the MBRP sounds on the Challenger. I can't wait to put it in and hear it growl! I'll put up a video here after everything is installed.

I got my Dynatech Headers installed and they look incredible. They actually stick out and you can see them through the wheel well. I looked at the stock headers when they pulled them out and they were tiny really restrictive. I would definitely recommend them.
