Intakes
So in the near future I intend to put a cold air intake on my '09 SE. I've done some research on them but was looking for some opinions from others who may have already done this simple mod. I think I've narrowed it down to the MOPAR one and the K&N. If anyone is using one besides those two that they think is better, please let me know.
What CAI offers the best boost in performance? According to the advertising the K&N offers a slightly larger performance boost but I've heard rumors that using non-MOPAR parts could lead to having my warrenty VOIDed. Thanks in advance for the perspectives. http://www.moparsupercenter.com/cold...b.html?cat=163 http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-1117 |
I would think the plastic intakes would be less of a heat soak than metal.

Performance Air Intake System, Which one?
I went with the Mopar performance air intake system because down the road year wise, it will enhance my SRT8's value. Besides it looks like it belongs there in the first place. Also backed by Chrysler warranty, what's not to like?
Nothing against the K&N unit at all. In fact, I've used K&N on many cars I've owned in the past with good results, they make a proven product. But seeings how I ordered my SRT8 with the Borla Cat-back exhaust system that also comes with a Chrysler factory backed warranty, I wanted to get the full maximum power I could get (H.P. wise) from the manufacturer. I'm big on factory warranty's. I was going to do these mods eventually so I thought if my dealer & the the car manufacturer want to save me the time and trouble of doing these mods myself, why not let them do it? Either way is better then leaving it stock. Hope this helps! |
Thanks for the input

from what i read on another site the cold air systems actually let more
heat in to the engine raising the intake temp. the guy that did the test with a few different cai systems also stuck a drop in K&N and on the dyno the drop in was the best bang for the buck. i read somewhere else that the SRT bottom air box is made different than the RT/SE air box and if you swap that out and go with the K&N you would have the best package personally i went with the K&N and used the balance of what i saved to buy my 70 go wing. |
