Wow, now that is expensive. Now on the tax thing are they really the highest in the nation. I spent some time in CT working a special project for the USG and my home property tax were $11K a year on a $395K house..

While New York is rarely listed with the higest rate in any one category, when you add all of the "user fees" and taxes together, the amount a resident gets to keep is the lowest in the nation. Taxes on cigarettes and gasoline are among the highest in the country, as are income and property taxes. In NY (where Senator Clinton claims her "absentee" seat from while campaigning), the upstate area (anything north of the 5 burroughs) has been economically depressed for twenty years. New York isn't showing growth in any area - expect that of the State budget.
Tax his land, tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow, tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, tax his shirts,
Tax his work, tax his dirt.
Tax his chew, tax his smoke,
Teach him taxes are no joke.
Tax his car, tax his grass,
Tax the roads he must pass.
Tax his food, tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his sodas, tax his beers,
If he cries, tax his tears.
Tax his bills, tax his gas,
Tax his notes, tax his cash.
Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.
If he hollers, tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"
And when he's gone, we won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance tax.

Bootcamp, that has to be one of the true to life poems I have ever read and yet very sad. Thanks for sharing.

Witty poem BootCamp, thanks for sharing it. The writer only forgot two other things tax their air and tax their payment of taxes. I've been tax for eating in at a fast food joint as well. I just found out delightfully a new tax will be thrown on the backs of the people in my hometown, a area that is already expensive to live in that has nothing to offer anymore thanks partly to taxes and also to "ManBearPig" regulations making our coal not acceptable for use because it is too good quality, and our power bills continue to rise because of this. Don't you just love the greedy hands of the State Government? They probably have to do this since public smoking in bars and restaurants is now illegal.

RE: What is your gasoline price right now?
Thanks, gents, but I can't take credit for writing it. It's called "The Tax Poem" and I'm not sure who the author is - probably someone just like us!
It's gotten rediculous. They tax us when we make it, when we spend it, when we invest it, when we win it, when we inherit it, when we borrow it......... Seems like the same dollar is taxed for more than what we're left with!
....wasn't this the reason for the Boston Tea Party and subsequent Revolution?
