Default Is This A "Guy Thing"?

My wife and my friend's wife say it is, but I'll take this "to the panel".
I've tried to explain to my wife (and my friend's wife - as he tried too) that a "car guy" (or car gal) has a "relationship" with our cars.... well at least the ones we're most proud of owning.
Guys tend to "name" their cars, and they're usually women's names. I'm honestly not sure about the female rebuttal to this since I've only known a few women who "knew their way around a car" well enough to service, repair and modify them without assistance.

My friend named his '05 GT Mustang "Lucille" the day he picked her up from the dealership. I've named a handful of my cars in the past as well. Another friend named his BMW motorcycle "Emma". He rode her everyday, everywhere, regardless of the weather.

Are we crazy? Is anyone else here suffering from the same affliction?

Along the same lines: When you take delivery,
"What will you name your Challenger?"

If i get one I want to give it a boy name. my family isnt fullied with car guys and they name itheir cars. My moms jetta wolksburg is callled miracle whip (because it was a miracle she got a new car) My sisters VW bug is called cream puff (harvest moon metallic paint color) and my dad calls his magnum "The Magnum". He gave more creative names to his opther vechiles. Such as the blue ghost.

I dont think its a guy thing rather a quirk some people have.

Possible names for my future challenger:

Silver car
silver surfer

Black car
Vader
Anti matter (also could work for purple)
MR/dr. sinister
Darkside
the funeral (to pay my respects to all the dead sedans people love to drive)

Orange/Other
Agent Orange
kowalski
Slipstream
Lola
Bertha
Polar bear

I can say I have not suffered that problem back with my old Challenger. I will have to think if I want to name my car, but I can tell you if I do it will not be a common name.

I have a friend that once name his rifle "Betsy". Interesting how we love to name inanimate objects........probably objects we love to have.

Awesome topic

Its so true, every car ive owned that i have connected with on that special man/machine level i have named!
I currently drive a black porsche cayman that i call "perla".

When i finally get my challenger i think i will call car on the basis of colour choice...

All Black = Vixen
Hemi Orange = Jesse-Jane
Plum Crazy = Barney (purple dinosaur lol)
All White = Marshmallow Man

A black Cayman, congrats .......that is a awesome machine.

That is considered one of the best handling cars in the world for under $100K.

I won't give mine a name. If I did, it wouldn't be a girl's name.
If I did give it a name, it'd be something like:
King Kong
Terminator
Devastator
Warhawk
Annihilator
