RE: 5.7 R/T OR 6.1 SRT?
Can we not have a 6.1 R/T. That SRT thing is just NOT RETRO at all. If I must buy a 6.1 SRT that emblem will be shaved and replaced with a R/T ASAP.

RE: 5.7 R/T OR 6.1 SRT?
I want a base model 5.7-Hemi V8 Challenger for as close & competative $25,000+ MSRP of the very comparable & competative base model V8-Mustang GT.... $33,000 is $8,000 MORE than a Mustang-GT!!!![:@][:@][:@]
COME ON DODGE!!! Y'ALL can do so much better than this!!!
I am telling you now if this continued rising of MSRP above and beyond what the average blue collar working man can afford continues then DODGE will drive AWAY man loyal MOPAR fans to other cars they CAN afford!!![]
PS: Many of us out here think that Dodge could make a comparable car within $1000-$2000 over the Mustang.

ORIGINAL: BadStratRT
hell, you can get a left over GTO for under 30 grand now..and it has 100 more hp.

You don't understand...
The original Challenger WAS the working mans performance car and was in the same price range as other pony cars of that day and was built and marketted to the average working man to whom it appealed...
I understand making a limitted production SRT8 6.1/6.4 Hemi version with all the bells & whistles...
BUT, WHY price the base model 5.7 V8-Hemi out of the reach of the average blue collar guy @ $8,000+ that of a base model V8 Mustang-GT, completely out of the current market MSRP price range of a basemodel V8 pony/performance coupe??? DODGE WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS THAT CAN"T AFFORD THE EXTRA $8,000+!!!
LORD knows, Many of us out here WANT a Challenger badly & will have to scap & scrape just to even afford the base V8 Mustang GT as it is.
HOW on Gods green earth does Dodge expect the average working guy to come up with 8 more grand???
LOOK, DXC already makes cars for the more "well to do"enthusiast like the VIPER, ChargerSRT8, 300SRT8, RamSRT10, CherokeeSRT8, MagnumSRT8, Crossfire, and the up and coming FirePower, and ChallengerSRT8,
So, why for goodness sake can't they at least pay homage to the original intent of the challenger by offering a base V8 Challenger model to compete price wise with the base V8 Mustang-GT???

Maybe they will. Just hang in there and we'll just have to wait and see.

RE: 5.7 R/T OR 6.1 SRT?
I'm with sambo 77 on this. A 5.7 Challenger should be offered at $28,000 as direct competition for the GT Mustang. This is within reason and DCX should be able to turn a profit at this price. While it may not be as much profit as some of their offerings they should be concerned with volume and capturing market share in this segment especially before Chevy rolls out the Camaro. If they price it over $30k for the 5.7 there will be too many sales lost to the competition period! I would buy a 5.7 manual or auto priced between 28-32k before the 6.1 at 35k and up and be just as happy.

i also agree, and i understand perfectly!
my point with the GTO comment was to show that they need to not price this new car like a supercar...the viper is pointless for most people, and it is little more than a status symbol...
