Yes, insurance will be higher but that is because the Challenger truly deserves it......a real Muscle Car.

That's right! Might be higher, but it will be worth it! "What you pay for is what you get," is one of my favorite sayings.

I like Mustang because for years, they pushed Camaro. And vice-versa. For years DCX pushed no one in a muscle car. I don't see Camaro/Firebird/Mustang guys running from anyone. Even with less HP, they would also have less weight. And besides, enthusiasts, and certainly those who go to the track, don't leave their cars stock. I'm sure you will find a host of folks waiting for the new Challenger. AT THE TRACK. That's where we'll find who fears what.

I think that initially Dodge will have nothing but V-8's initially, but in years 2,3,4 they will have V-6's and we will all be happy.

That would be like history repeating itself.

The original Challengers had big engines but they got smaller overtime and gas got more expensive.

This news is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

2007 FORD SHELBY GT500 OFFICIALY RATED AT 500 HORSEPOWER

DEARBORN, Mich., May 2 - The most powerful factory-built Mustang ever just got even more potent. Final certification testing of the Shelby GT500’s 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 shows it will produce 500 horsepower and 480 lb.-ft. of torque – 25 more horsepower than preliminary estimates.

“With 500 hp and the Shelby name, this car is an instant legend," said Hau Thai-Tang, director, Advanced Product Creation & SVT programs. "This is the most powerful, most capable Mustang ever."
The Ford Shelby GT500's supercharged 5.4-liter, 32-valve V-8 is a result of Ford's experience in developing the modular V-8 and V-10 engine series. The engine is force-fed air via a "Roots-type" supercharger providing 9 pounds per square inch of boost. It borrows the four-valve cylinder heads, piston rings and bearings, from the Ford GT engine.

The 500 hp rating was obtained using the Society of Automotive Engineer's latest standard and was witnessed by an objective third party. The Shelby GT500's 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 will be built at Ford's Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Mich. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

From what I read, and if you go onto ebay, people are bidding over $20,000 to have that order the dealer is alotted to have, then they still have to pay the MSRP price when it comes in. Crazy, just Crazy. I could not imagine having that kind of money.

What about the guy who paid about $1.5M for a 1970 Dodge Challenger?

For that kind of money you could buy 6 Ford GT's, or 5 Porsche Carrera GT's, or 1 Veyron Bugatti.

I have a neighbor who's uncle owns a Ford GT and he pay's $1K a month on insurance.

There is just a whole other level of wealth I cannot fathom.

HOLY CRAP. 1K a month? I pay less than that for the mustang gt a year, but yeah I know, the cost of the car. The dealer where I bought my car, said they sold their last GT for about $230,000 That is almost 100,000 above MSRP. They had his trade in sitting in the showroom, a Porsche 911 that the dealer had a used car price at 90,000. They said he had a 6 car garage full and the only reason he traded the porsche was because of not having enough room and wanted teh GT.

1.5 mil for a 70 Challenger. That is crazy too. Could have bought a few of them that needed fixing and fix them up.

the price of NICE classics, especially if original, are well over the million dollar mark. there were several cars at the mopar nationals two years ago that sold for around a million dollars. it is completely ridiculous.

the GT500 is a rich mans toy..the mustang people are going on about how it will rule the streets, but with performance similar to that of the viper, and a price tag/mark up that high, im not worried...think about it this way..how many vipers do you see? i may see one a week when its nice out. i hardly ever see them at the track, and some moron who is willing to pay 80grand for a new cobra isnt going to be eager to beat it up. the terminators were no where near that, and i dont see all that many of them...
