So I saw the new Challenger at the AJC car show...

RE: So I saw the new Challenger at the AJC car show...
Yep. Dodge, used to call the Dakota a "right sized" or "perfect sized" pickup truck. I think the Challenger is in that vein. It's right sized. Sure, it's big, but it's still nimble. You can rag it out on the road, and still put kids in it for Sunday drives.
It seems like a sporty, powerful car, that can target the cash flush boomer market, appeal the Gen X, Gen Y, and Gen Y Not, who may have kids...this thing's a winner.
It's sexy; but still retains enough real world practicality to be attractive.
Now, if they just offer a stick in the 6 banger....they'll be selling even hotter when the time comes...
I mean, it defies logic, why they wouldn't. One would assume a stick is going to give marginally better gas mileage, so why not, if there's this every droning din of gas, gas, gas..... Gear it high, is any one going to care their 6 isn't a stump puller?

I'll have to admit it still gets to me when you hear the same old complaints. I just have to remember some folks are seeing it for the first time and they are voicing their observations. I have been here with you guys for the better part of 2 years and this is old news to us. So i will try to stay in check

Looks can be deceiving. The fact of the matter is the Challenger is shorter than the Charger. I would not judge the Challenger by appearance, but instead by how it feels on the road. There are some cars that are big that feel very nimble and small cars that feel very large. One of the gripes I have about the current Mustang is the fact that it feels small to me on the inside to where I feel claustrophobic while I'm inside of it, as opposed to the 94-04 that feels fine to me despite the fact that the newer one is bigger.
Whiteheatl, you make an interesting point. If you guys want to compare things, look at the thread on the Challenger's dimensions vs. competition that is pinned to the top of this section. The Challenger to me is the perfect size.

I know it's the perfect size for me! I like the Mustang OK, but I'd hate to think of taking a road trip in it. (BTW: Thanks, Dodge, for IRS!) Some here have said that the Challenger isn't meant to be a road trip car, but I'm not buying one to race or to put in a garage for 30 years. When I get mine I plan to drive it! That means daily, weekends, road trips, summer and winter. I can't afford a "trophy" car!

To those who complain about the size of the new Challenger and the weight... I suggest Honda as a car you might be interested in They make them everyday and they will be just the right cramped confines you may be looking for. I for one will enjoy the spaciousness of the Challenger no complaints here.

I don't want a tiny car, especially for something as useless and dumb as racing other people.

The Challenger is the first new car I have been even interested in years. I can't stand those little go-kart Mustangs and the like. They are finally once again making man sized road trip highway worthy cars again. Thank God !! This is actually a car worthy of being the star of a cool car movie, I can't think of too many other cars in the recent past that could pull that off. I can't believe people are actually crying about the weight. With a big enough engine you can make a brick fly and the Challenger has a HEMI so I'm not worried. The car is beautiful and fast and will be by far the coolest new car on the road so I am happy.
