1968 AMC AMX vs Javelin
So what is the difference bertween the two? Looks like Javelin has a back seat. Is it a longer wheelbase? any substantial differences?

Here is an article that discusses the difference at the beginning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_AMX Granted that wikipedia isn't the greatest source, but since it isn't a debate its acceptable.

RE: 1968 AMC AMX vs Javelin
Thanks for the wikepedia tip. It answered my question. There is a '68 Javelin for sale on ebay from a yard in FL for only a dollar. My heart is more set on an AMX, but the Javelin is pretty close, and probaly less seen and known. HHHMMMMMmmmmmm.

Either car would be a rare sight and make for one really nice looking cruiser. I have always wanted an AMX. 1970 with a 390 4-speed and black in color. That would be one nice looking daily driver;)

Are you saying the Javelin is less well-known than the AMX? Back in the '70s, you saw Javelins everywhere but very few AMXs. |

I saw a Javelin today parked at a business place I went to. A friend of mine bought a new one back in '68 or '69. Went he came back from the Air Force. Milwaukee, Wi.

RE: 1968 AMC AMX vs Javelin
The AMX was the shortened 2 seater version of the Javelin from 68-70, had the 390 motor as standard. The AMX became a sport-oriented Javelin option package in 71-74 - no more 2 seaters.
