My 5.3 gets 17-18 mpg. No real mods, except exhaust. Got a blackbear tune and it is the same but the tune not expecting better mileage . I also dont take off too fast and just cruise, without my...

how many miles on the bottom end and what oil pressure was it seeing at idle and WOT?i would just do heads and cam, 3k or larger stall, gears and some suspension and have fun.

You wouldnt really get doused, the problem might be open fumes, but not really that much of an issue I wouldnt have thought. Theres plenty of motors where it just comes into the car with a plastic...
