To the earlier question about 727 being mated to the hemi the answer is Yes. To my understanding, 383's and up all were mated to 727 if automatic was used. I believe the 360, then later 5.9 was the largest v-8 coupled to the 904.

This thread also has me wondering what's in my '99 5.9 Durango. Years ago my trans guy told me it was a 727. Visually it looks like one as well but in may be a "variant" of the 727 as described earlier.

The 5.9 99 Durango has a variant of the 727 called the a518, or the 46rh / 46re. It's just a 727 with a tail housing overdrive, and an aux. valve body. The 5.2 Durango took the a500 (42re) and that would be more like a late model a904 with the added gear and lock up.
