Default What Do You Think About Building Clones?

I've always wanted a 6pk Challenger, the prices were way over my head. I found a nearly rust free Hemi Orange '71 318 car with a .055 over, aluminum rod 440 under the hood (DRAG CAR) bought it before it was tubed and distroyed. Sold engine @ trans, built a new .030 over 440-6pk, 727 , 3.91 posi. I've installed front disc brakes, rally dash with 8000k tach, 15" rally wheels. The only thing on my wish list is a dana 60, other than that you'll have to check my VIN# to see I've got a clone. Hey I know there are people out there doing this trying to make a BUCK!! this is my 401k plan for my grandkids or great grandkids depends on how long I live and I'm 41 now and planing a '70 Hemi Challenger Clone next. I'd like some feed back CLONE OR NOT TO CLONE.. Thanks..

I personally have no issues with clones, unless someone is trying to rip somebody off by trying to pass one off as an original. There's been enough of that lately- when they start swapping and duplicating VIN & fender tags that's going too far. With the money these things are bringing these days, it brings the thieves out of the woodwork. You really need to know what you're looking at before buying anything nowadays.... that's part of why I don't understand the e-Bag frenzy- how can you bid something as high as some of these jokers do without seeing more than a few digipics on the computer??

Full disclosure even when just "showing" it. If you don't call it a clone, I call the owner a clown.

Build it for fun and for passing down to your future generations but please do not use it as a 401K. I used to do financial consulting and it is much too risky
like real estate, gold, and pork bellys. If the price goes up great but don't depend on it for that.

Have fun building it and have your family help you for fun and will build memories forever.
