a few things...which mopar cam are you running? you got new pistons, what compression are they?

j-heads are either 2.02 or 1.88 depending on the year. if your car is a stock 71 340 car, it should have the 2.02s. the x-heads were 2.02 intake, but it seems that the TA and AARs got 2.20 machined heads. if im wrong, someone is welcome to correct me. im running 1.88 intakes.

if you want a good streetable intake, but the edelbrock AirGap...i have it, and its wonderful. stay away from the mopar M1, as its single plane and youll want a dual plane intake for regular street use, with some track ability. i ran a barry grant race carb for a long time, and i am now running a proform race carb. i would suggest using a holley, or holley base carb, but thats just my opinion. i think that a 750 should easily be enough for your application, preferably a double pump...

i wouldnt spend what TTI wants for headers. i have run holley flowtechs for a few years, and i just got a set of hooker super comp headers. as for the exhaust from the header back, find an exhaust shop and some muffers that you like, and have the shop bend you exhaust..its much cheaper. i would go 3". if youre using a 1.60 exhaust valve head, you can run 1 5/8" headers. going bigger with the header diameter wont hurt you, but it wont help unless you have bigger exhaust valves.

the 727 is an awesome trans. for regular street use, a 10" torque convertor would suit your needs, and you could get a stall around 2500, which will help the performance, but not hurt the street drivability. i had a 3500, and now gave a 4000. if youre going to go with a small, high performance TC, (i run an 8 inch) youll want to get an aftermarket trans cooler, but if youre builing this trans and engine, you really should have one anyway. i had a trans shop custom make my TC, so i cant help on the brand, but TCI is among the best.

if i missed anything, ask away.

i ran the 484/294 before going to the 528 cam...also, with that cam, the 2500 stall would be ideal.

the pistons are going to hurt you a bit, unless you have the heads chopped. i think that the stock compression of your engine was 10.4 to 1...but then again, im not even at 9.5, and im making decent power.

i also run dual electric fans, and im running a stock crank dampener, as the fluidampers are nice, but very expensive. i am running a cloyes double roller chain. i would like to go to a gear drive, but for small block mopars, they are VERY expesive.

im not sure of the stock cam specs, but i would recommend 100% that you upgrade your valve springs. im using a dual spring now...your cam should have a "recommend valve spring", but i think that a single coil spring will work for you, as the mopar single spring is good for up to 500 lift.
