Default Retro Wheels

Alright so I'm probably going to be getting the base model se. . . only problem is those wheel covers. I know they have better wheels available but I have a feeling they'll be part of a package or more than I want to spend. Plus I'd like something more retro looking. I've been all over trying to find some classic rally wheels but they're all either too small (they've gotta be 17", I prefer that size and I don't want to/can't spend more on new tires anyway) or too expensive ($500 a piece? I don't think so). So if anyone sees any retro styled wheels that size it'd be great to know.

Try these 17" Crager SSs on for size:

The bolt pattern on the LX cars is 5 X 115mm (4.52 inches)

You can also try JEGS for these:

Make sure you check the backspacing on your rims before ordering. Too much and theyll scrape the wheel well liners. Too little and theyll rub the fender lip of the wheel well opening.
I "think" the stock wheels are 5.5" backspacing, but Im not sure.

The 17-inch Cragars are exactly what I'm going for. Some time ago, I contacted one of the places that sell 17-inch Mopar Rallye-style wheels to see if they'll fit on the new Challenger. The rather confusing note I received (which is on the forum somewhere) in response basically seemed to say that yes, the wheels will fit but no, they don't. Apparently, Dodge now uses a metric measuring method for wheel lugs and the Rallye wheels are English system. Hence, the wheels can be mounted, but they apparently don't fit perfectly. That's when I went looking at other options and discovered the Cragars. The ones I want are listed on the Cragar web site as model No. 612 (basically the same as the original Cragar 61s, but the 612s are available in 17- and 18-inch sizes).

Check out Wheel Vintiques also, they sell a Mopar retro rally wheel in a large size.
Do a search on those chrysler engineers who painted a challenger white in honor of Vanishing Point,
They had the wheels on the car.

Here is the link to Mopar parts that fit the Challenger. There are some wheels ther, not really retro but worth a look.

I wish my current wheels had the Dura-Brite finish from Alcoa.

Yea I was looking for something similar to the rally wheels. The ones on that white srt were HUGE though. I saw those cragars and they're my second choice if I can find em for about $65 bucks less. . . otherwise I gotta pick whether I put 2 on the left side or the right :P

Just jack up the back end a little and put slightly wider tires there. That's what we did when we couldn't afford an entire set of mags in the old days.

no question the HRE Monobloks, I prefer the M40s.
Tony Kannan came to our last little M get together at my house and showed off his new RennTech modded Black Series CLK63 sporting the M40s and OMG ... OMG ...OMG...
