SRT-8
Will the SRT-8 show in in the first year of production, or will it be a 2nd year car leaving only the 5.7 and possibly a 6 cylinder to be produced in 2008? The reason for my question is my wife drives a 2005 Volvo S60 that a friend is interested in buying from us. If I sell that I'd be interested in leasing a Charger SRT-8 (I don't drive my own car too much... I have a company car) until the Challenger comes out, and turn the Charger in for a purchase of a Challenger SRT-8 at lease end. If the Challenger SRT-8 won't be produced until the 2009 model year...the timing might just be right......just a thought. Any ideas?

RE: SRT-8
As I understand it the 6.1L is the most definite engine option. As far as I know that is supposed to be the SRT engine in this line, but then again, I'm not an insider just an observer.

RE: SRT-8
We really don't know a lot of this stuff for sure because they haven't released that much info about the trim level badges.

RE: SRT-8
I hate the waiting game they never tell us anything... Most likely I'd believe the the SRT 8 will come out a little later then the RT. The charger, mag and 300 were that way, Its a few months difference.

RE: SRT-8
It depends on what they decide to make the R/T and SRT model. I hate it but I am betting the 5.7L will be the R/T (should be T/A if you ask me) and the 6.1L will be the SRT unless they decide to drop a larger HEMI in the Challenger. If they intend to make the 6.1L a SRT, then I better it will be released initially. If the 6.1L by luck is only the R/T then the SRT will be waiting for the correct time to get special attention.

RE: SRT-8
Dodge will not rebadge the 6.1L with the RT b/c the mag, 300 and charger are already badged as SRT8 with the 6.1L. I just doesnt make sense to do that. Retro YES, but to be retro with the newage, the SRT is the new RT.

RE: SRT-8
Unfortuneatly this is true. I was hoping that considering that this is on the new platform, they would consider demote the 6.1L to the R/T badge as they did with the 3.5L from R/T on the Intrepid with the SXT.

RE: SRT-8
I agree and would like to see...
5.7 = T/A
6.1 = R/T
6.4 = SRT
As said in a post above, because of the other cars in this line, it makes sense to make the R/T with the 5.7 HEMI. I believe this car will be the car priced around $30,000 MSRP.
