Default Dealer Upgrade

I took my 09 R/T Six speed into the dealer for it's first oil change the other day. The dealer entered the vin in the computer and showed me what was called a "Rapid response transmittal" pertaining to all 2009 Challengers and 2009 Charger 300's and 300C's. The memo instructed the dealer to upgrade to a 750 cold cranking amp battery as well as install larger diameter ground cables which run from the negative battery post to the chassis in the trunk and another from the bellhousing bolt to the chassis under the hood. It states that all cars should have this upgrade due to some possible hot weather induced hard starting conditions. (Slow cranking when hot) Cars not yet delivered at the dealers are to be upgraded before delivery. After seeing the tiny ground cables that came on the car I can understand why they needed the larger cables! Maybe any 09 owners can call their dealer and ask about this (Rapid responce transmittal #09-019) and schedule the service to avoid any future problems. The work took about 45 minutes. This is not a recall. The tech was nice enough to allow me to install my skip shift eliminator while the car was on the lift and he looked the other way! Works great with no check engine light! Great guy.
