Custom black fuel filler door
This is the one cosmetic issue I have with my future ride (black RT). That chrome fuel door disrupts the body lines terribly. I don't want the SE style fuel door on an RT, so aftermarket/custom is the way to go.
I've gotten quite a few things powdercoated before, but never anything with moving pieces. Does anyone know if a powdercoating would be possible on this filler door? Black chrome, maybe? |

RE: Custom black fuel filler door
I just installed the chrome door on my SE but I agree with Terror. If I can find the correct color powder coating (Stone White) I'll be coating it myself.
I don't see any problems with coating the hinge. I've got quite a bit of experience with powder coating in my garage. I even even coated my windshild wiper arms from older cars with great results. Usually I have hinged items in the open position so I can cover all visible area's. As long as the coating is not to excessive at the hinge point, upon curing you can break the 1-3mil coating by forcing the hinge closed again. Or better yet take the hinge apart and mask but I have not checked to see if that is possible.
