Engine ID

Was thinking, with how well DCX has done the retro bit on the Challenger, and the hood being a "signature" element, I'm surprised they are now using raised lettering (chrome plastic) to spell out "6.1 Hemi". I realize the 6.1 hemi desination is part of the current graphic, but no Challengers that I can think of ever had engine displacements displayed in graphics on the hood?

They were on billboards for the 'cuda and the R/T and 340 six pak T/A designations, but the engine cues were always in metal lettering "340 four barrell", "426 Hemi", "383 four barrell" and "440 Sixpack", etc.

I know...just too old school...

A decal is cheaper to make. Remember, hold cost down=more bang for the buck.

Agreed, but then have it slightly wrap around hood scoop side, stencil it out and we get the best of both.

I can't imagine that would cause the price to be that much higher. I think it would be nice to list it. If they can list 3.5L on the Charger, then why not list 6.1L on the hood?

This is an old post and nice to see the "production version" now has the "6.1 Hemi" emblems!

...Who knows, maybe they actually watch this site and others???
