Hows this for ya. An e-body trailer.

This has been my winter project. Sorry I havn't posted much.

I want to say this was fun but it really was hard work. I think I am about half done now.

Check it out. I beleve this is the first e-body trailer. Now taged and legal on the road. Needs paint and a little more body work.

Now that is hilarious. What will you carry in it?

What a waste!!
Gee thanks...

And what the F___ would YOU have done whith this rusted POS. Restore it?

Hey come on man, that looks great. You really spent some time on that and it looks cooool. Let everyone have their opinion and you will see that more will repect what you have done. That is the best of both worlds, cruising in a fine Chally with extra stuff to boot. And doing it all in unique style.

Hey don't get offended! I was not trying to jerk your chain.

Thank you, lear4406 for the first really kind words here.

I was not offended, nor was my chain jerked. I simply felt insulted. I have not misrepresented any of my posts here. You could have been a little clearer as to why you think it is such a waste?

If you could have taken some time to ask, I would have told everyone here I took my rusted 318 parts car, a car that was going to be scrapped, and made this from it.

You called it a waste. Why? This thing was not worth saving. It really was junk. It would have cost way more than it would ever be worth. It would have been scrap metal. Instead the parts have been used on my other two Challengers. Saving them both. Some parts I sold, so others have been able to fix more Challengers.

I even offered to trade this for a workable rear end of a car. I did not want to sell it and have to look for another parts car to cut up. One offer to trade came up. But the other car was just as bad or worse than mine.

I have taken a lot of time to make something that I think is special. Calling it a waste is like saying I wasted my time, wasted a valuable piece of history, wasted my money, wasted the parts used, wasted….well you get the idea. An insult.

I almost did that with a 70 Charger but did not know how to finish the part that got cut. You did a great job, very cool with the seat inside, great idea. (mine went to the crusher)

Why is it, every time I come up with an idea, someone beats me to it? :D That is pretty slick! My crazy thought was to make up a yellow '74 trailer to tow behind my Plum 70 convertible -- kind of a beginning - and - end deal. I'm guessing you're going to paint yours to match the tow car? I'm most interested in how you got the trailer hitch mounted without any major butcher work, it looks pretty clean by the pics you've posted. I've been puzzling for a while how to pull that off. Nice job!

Why would you put a hitch on a Challenger? besides the only reson i would consider putting one on is for towing a4place snowmobile trailer. but the frame was not meant for that kind of towing.

Check my signature and see what I drive. The Challenger is the only thing with any guts to pull anything! :D

RE: Hows this for ya. An e-body trailer.

Well i guess it would be cool to see the faces on some guy in a F-350 superduty mega cab, or whatever, when i pass him up on the highway towing a 4place encolsed with some 500 pound snowmobiles.

I actuly though this was gonna be a E body chassis turned into a trailer! Now that would be awsome.

RE: Hows this for ya. An e-body trailer.

I had my head up under the back of my Challenger this afternoon, and I'm still puzzling how to get a hitch under there without cutting or drilling. Hmmm... there are those big tie-downs bolted to the frame rail...;)

RE: Hows this for ya. An e-body trailer.

OK, I have been swayed to post again by the kind words. Thanks. The trailer has now been painted. Yes, it is plum just like the car. It is now almost finished, I need to do some small things still, like a spare tire mount and some trim items. The car and trailer can also be seen in the Feb. 08 Mopar action mag. on page 50.

As far as the trailer hitch on the car... That did take some work to make it fit. I have the dual tips out back and they made an easy install out of the question. The hitch is custom made (by me) to fit around every thing. It is made in 5 parts. (see pics.) I did have to drill 4 holes into the rear frame to bolt to the car. Also 2 holes have been drilled into the bumper by the tag light.

That is cool. If the opportunity present itself, I may do the same thing myself. I am not setup to do welding or cutting but I would make it happen.

Nice....it's different which is what it's all about. And as long as it was going to the junker anyway.....why not.

Very cool. And I can't seem to find enough time in the garage to get squat done these days. My hat is off to you.

I like the fact that you left the seat in place.....no need for loading lawn chairs in the trunk.....

RE: Hows this for ya. An e-body trailer.

That's pretty sweet. I've been thinking of doing that with a mustang rear end. Why a mustang???? Because I want to put DODGE emblems all over it.. Sorta like the kill ratio of all the fords, olds, chevy's my chally dusted off the road when she was still moving. LOL, But instead of being a TRUNK or parts hauler I was thinking of a BARBI QUE grill?? Still a works in thought... AWSOME job.;)
