I think that to download songs from your computer to a flash drive, you have to go directly from whatever files you have stored the music in rather than through the iTunes program. And are you trying to upload the songs directly from an iPod to the computer in the car? I don't know if you can upload FROM an iPod. Can you connect your computer directly to the car? (I'm assuming you have a laptop, of course.) If you can, open up the iTunes program and see if it syncs with the computer on the car. If it does, you should be able to upload whatever playlist you want into the car's computer.

I had the same problem. I think the Ipod is using copy protection. I copied my itunes to a usb drive and then transferred them without a problem.

When you setup iTunes with your iPod you had to establish an authorization between the two. That means you can't have a friend come over with their iPod and copy all your purchased music. All iTunes does is reformat the files structure and renames them to 4 character code names. It then creates a relational database so that only iTunes knows which information goes with each MP3. Most other systems will not be able to decode the reorganization. The files are still MP3s but the data information is reorganized.

To anyone planning on getting an iPod, MAKE A COPY OF YOUR COMPLETE FILE LIBRARY BEFORE MIGRATING IT TO YOUR iTUNES!!! you won't be able to do it later without jumping through major hoops. There are rogue apps out there that can do it for you, though.
