Default UConnect Navigation Radio (RER)

I just received my new Nav radio yesterday. I have the single CD radio with Sirius and I am going to swap them out, once I find a mirror to replace the standard mirror. Does anyone know of a good place to get an OEM rear view mirror with microphones in it besides the dealer?

I just made this same swap yesterday. Chrysler sells a Uconnect microphone that works with this radio and sells for $40-50.00 at the parts counter. I had the dealer install this and a factory Sirius antenna. I got the radio from Ebay and it's a take out of a 2009 Challenger. Here's some pics.

Looks good. Did you have Sirius before you swapped out? if so did you have to have the dealer do anything to "transfer" the one year subscription? I am going to do mine this weekend. I am going to get the Dual Microphone mirror and replace my standard service mirror. I do know that to get the unconnect part to work I will have to have the dealer starscan it to activate the unconnect so I can use the hands free.

I had an aftermarket Sirius set up. I did not have the factory roof antenna. I had the dealer add the factory roof antenna and the microphone kit. The radio I bought came out of a new car so it came with a partial subscription in effect. When the Sirius stops working I will renew it.

here is the post install pic. It went really smooth and I had no problems with it. the RER that I got already was active for the sirius and the Uconnect was active as well (woohoo). I have ordered the Microphone mirror and cable to attach to the RER. I am planning to do the install myself and I will update once I get the parts in and installed.

The one part you have not mentioned is the navigation antenna. $66.00 at the parts counter. I installed that myself. The navigation won't work with out it. The good news is it fits inside the dash and needs no exposure to light to work accurately. I am on a trip
Right now and the nav is so much better than the little Garvin I had before. I have an iPhone and it pairs and works great with the
U connect.

TV screens in cars just doesn't compute with me so opted to go without the Nav system. I have become addicted to the Uconnect feature, though. So much so I went out and bought a Pioneer 7000 head unit for my daily driver. It has Bluetooth and USB/iPod connector and phone mic. I guess technology does have a place somewhere in muscle cars.

I didn't mention the GPS antenna because to me that was a forgone conclusion that it was going to be installed. I did get the antenna and have it installed in the dash. you are correct that is very accurate. I have a garmin Nuvi 660 and the RER works just as good or better than the Garmin. Since I travel a LOT for my job the Nav is a must for me. The garmin is good but I hate having it up on the dash of the Challenger. to me it is almost degrading to the car to have something "stuck" up on the dash....
