Challenger shifts its power pitch

"Our image can't be about monster Hemi engines and smoking tires," said Mike Accavitti, director of the Dodge brand, said Monday at a media event to show off the full Challenger lineup. "It's about knowing your car looks good, and that you look good driving in it."
I'm not a marketing guru, but differentiation is something lost on these folks....

They should offer something that no one else offers, that's how Ford reaped revenue w/ the Mustang for the years it was the only game in town.

Dodge cannot, at this point, compete in the practical fuel efficient cars. Until they figure out how to engineer cars w/ some gas mileage and performance (think Daytona or on the import side Conquest), they better keep a performance offering any way they can. If they're going to hang their hitch on the "looks good" star....they will alienate guaranteed loyal Mopar purchasers.

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would utter such non-sense.

How about, "Our image can't be EXCLUSIVELY about monster Hemi engines and smoking tires,", "it will never lose this aspect, but rather our image will come to include new and innovative ways to provide performance to those who lust after it with more power from less CID and better fuel efficiency from big CID"

But to utter such no drivel is disconcerting. Why not be the car producer that gives you power and fuel efficiency, it cannot be the unchallenged domain of Honda.

it would be nice if dodge focused on the engineering stage of the vehicles, so that the car doesnt need 425hp to keep up with the 300hp mustang...[:@]

Amen. 300HP in a lighter, purpose built platform, would produce stronger accelerating more fuel efficient V8s. They'd probably even be able to gear them higher, since they aren't tasked w/ overcoming a leviathan of inertia, thus producing even better fuel efficiency.

Modern day dart swinger or something to that effect...

I'd be happy with a SE.
Have they released a MPG rating on it?

If my car had no guts I would not want it to look like a sports or muscle car The looks should be in line with the performance I bet Mr. Accavitti drives a 4cyl Pontiac Fiero with a Lamborghini body kit

Sorry for dual post, could not get it to go as one

Mike Accavitti does not seem to be much of a car enthusiast He wants to make Dodge the ultimate poser brand Looks good with no power SRT vehicles will soon be just a body kit and fancy graphics

Dangit Budman,

What is with the 3800 number floating in that brain of yours. Youve been teasing us with it too long. Is it the number of SRT8s they are going to produce in 09? Or the total number of Challengers? What is it man! What do you know!?
