NEW YORK (AP) - The 2008 Dodge Challenger won't be in showrooms until May.
But Chrysler is already unveiling its 2009 version at this week's New York International Auto Show.
The show opens to the public on Friday after two days of media previews.
Only one model of the updated pony car will be available in the 2008 model year. That will be the SRT8.
The 2009 Dodge Challenger will come in three versions when it goes on sale this fall -- the SRT8, the SE and the R/T.
Pricing for the 2009 Challenger lineup hasn't been released but the 2008 version starts at $37,995.
Chrysler spokeswoman Kathy Graham says the company already has gotten more than 10,000 orders for the 2008 Challenger.

So does that mean that the 10K units was the official number of 2008s they decided to produce?

I thought they were only makeing 6400 units in 08 .And ar ethey really starting production this month or is it just wishful thinking .

They should build at least 10K SRT models a year.
