Good story but...

I think the writer is wrong about the cost of tire replacement. It actually costs more to replace an 18 inch Michelin than it does a 20 inch Goodyear RSA. $111.00 each currently at Tire Rack.

You over-looked the speed ratings. The Z-rated Goodyear RS-A tire sells for $234. The other lesser RS-A tire sells for $116. See:
