2009 R/T trade in value

Just out of curiosity I took my R/T with 1000 miles on it just to see what kind of trade in allowance I would get and was shocked that they drop as much as any car as soon as you drive them off the lot. My car was $35,500 and I have been offered $24000 to $29000 on a 3 month old car. Depressing....

Like that with every car except high end exotics! Keep it! and give it a few years like ohh 10 or 15 and it will come back in value!

That is about normal . I could have purchased a 08 SRT 8 that was about 4 month's old with 300 mile's on it and was kept in the garage for $41,000.00 . The guy gave $53,000.00 for it new. He sold it back to the dealer after learning his cancer had returned . And you know the dealer got it much cheaper than what they where asking . I took a big loss on my 07 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with 11,000 mile's on trade on the Challenger R/T 6mt I got . But it was losing money sitting in the drive way . And I rarely drove it after selling my Harley and my wife selling her Triumph . Then the custom motorcycle trailer I had. I gave up the bike for health reason's as did my wife. Who just had a knee replacement a week ago. Have you got the Speed.inc harness that block's the factory 2nd gear shift from 1st at certian speed yet . Best $28.00 I have ever spent . And only takes a few min. if you can get it on a lift . I have a good friend who has a muffler shop who let me use a lift for 10 min.

That is why I cannot understand why people trade in an almost brand new car and lose thousands of $$$. Money must be growing trees for some people or they like getting bent over.
I have a 7 year old car with 100,000 miles and can still get a couple more grand selling it vs trading in.

Trade in is always a bad deal. Look at blue book or any other pricing guide and you will see that the dealer sale price is highest. Private party sale is middle. Trade in value is always lowest. There's always a big depreciation when you drive off the lot, but you could sell it to a person for much better than 24K. 29-30 is what I'd figure.

If you are going to change cars every year or so.....might as well lease...
Some people seem to forget, that a car loses dollar value the minute it leaves the lot, and that goes for our beloved Challenger as well.
