Mds

I have a 2010 Challenger R/T with the six-speed manual transmission.

One thing I particularly liked about the car is that it does NOT come with the Multiple Displacement System (MDS). I don't trust the MDS to work properly, and I have to suspect there will be some weird stresses on the crankshaft with four dead cylinders.

My question is, why is MDS not available with the manual transmission?

Are there some "drivability" problems with MDS + manual transmission?

In a nutshell, with an automatic transmission the brain is the engine computer. It determines many different things like torque, rpm, load, speed etc. so it can best determine when to turn on MDS.

With a manual, the brain is the human and trying to coordinate the engine computer and the human brain and when to turn on or off the MDS and do it has been long ongoing issue.

Oh, it's something as simple as that huh?

Thanks, that makes sense.

I'm glad my R/T doesn't have MDS.

I don't like it but stuck since I did not want a manual transmission.

Sport Mode and/or Auto Stick = MDS off. :)
