Whats your preference
I know you all will be biased here, but I just figured I would get your opinions. I have a 09 R/T, I am planning to install a Techco Supercharger. Then I had a bright idea that I should have just gotten a SRT.
So what would you rather have, a Supercharged R/T, or a non Supercharged SRT? |

After of course.

SRT. I'm sure you have realized that by the time you pay to have it properly installed and for the HP gains you will get, you could have had an SRT... and at least a 3 year 36k mile warranty. If you are close to Georgia, I'd recommend you contact a company called The Speed Factory. They perform warranty mods like superchargers (The SMS is one they offer). Maybe they can perform the work and leave you with a warranty.

For now I am still up in the air over this, I may just sell the supercharger and buy a SRT and be done with it.

RE: Whats your preference
It's almost a no brainer. When you supercharge an engine that isn't designed for it there's a lot of things can happen and most of them are bad. So much has to change, from lubrication to heat to compression. From a reliability standpoint either get yourself a good cai, exhaust and predator tune or just buy the SRT. I think you'll be much happier in the long run. Just MHO.

RE: Whats your preference
A supercharged R/T will spank a SRT8 all day long and get better mileage. Don't waste the money to have someone else install the kit. I say this because they really aren't all that difficult. It may seem overwhelming if you have never done anything of that magnitude to a care before, but if you just take your time, don't rush it, and stick to the instructions it will turn out fine. As far as reliability goes as long as you stick with the stock pulleys/boost level you don't have to be worried about the life of the engine. It is when people start pushing higher boost levels and with a more aggressive tune is when you hear about people destroying engines. The majority of supercharger kits are designed to go on 100% stock vehicles and last a very long time. Just stick with their kit and tune and you will be fine. As soon as the R/T classic comes out i will be buying a 6-speed in B5 blue and my first mod will be a techco/sms supercharger and exhaust. After that i will be done and probably pushing close to 480rwhp which will put my srt8 to shame.

That would be a smart move.
