5.7 6.1 hemi differences parts swapping

Im not that familiar with the new hemi engines as far as performance potential. Is it the same basic block. Heads cam intake interchangeable?

im not sure what youre getting at..why would you want to swap parts?

Why??? ...MORE POWER;) If I got a challenger R/T with the 5.7 Hemi Could I later bolt on the better flowing 6.1 parts? When rebuild time comes can the block be bored/sleeved to match displacment? What is the difference with the bottom ends besides displacement?
Is it like the GM LS engines where you can make a ls1 an ls6 or an ls2 or is the 6.1 a whole different animal?

honestly, try joining at DodgeForum.com and go into the Charger or Magnum section, and ask them..i believe that there ARE things that are interchangable, but i do not know for certain. However, I bet that they will have some insight for you!

RE: 5.7 6.1 hemi differences parts swapping

Well I did a little digging and apparently this is a swap people were trying with some success on hemi trucks although I didn't find many dyno numbers/track times. It was relatively inexpensive getting parts through a dealer but for some reason dcm put a hold on selling 6.1l parts except for warranty work? There was some conflicting info about the valves being shrouded by the smaller bore or not. You also lose mds with the srt cam. Hopefully the knowlege base will improve when the challenger hits the streets.

On a related note I've also been looking at new camaro info and Gm performance parts has made available heads and intake for the new 6.2l l92 (ls3) motor as an upgrade for ls2's These are very similar in design to ls7 and flow up to 330 cfm out of the box! Under $800 full assembled for the pair and $475 for the intake with inj,tb,fuel rail.

On the dodge sites there was some conspiracy talk about the parts hold, so if one company's going to support tuners and the others going to block them it could affect my purchase.
Maybe just a supply problem.

is there positive proof of this GM offered aftermarket for the camaro?

ls2 is in gtos, corvettes. Theres no proof what motor will be in the camaro (ls3 parts might be stock). I wasn't trying to imply they were for it specificly, just comparing current manufacturer performance options.

i was just curious if this stuff was already offered by GMPP? I know a few LS2 owners who would like a little more kick!

Which engine is the LS3? I don't know if I've heard of this engine before.

I found a great article discussing and illustrating (with photos of engine cross sections) the differences between the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemis.
