tdub2122, I'm proud of you. You undoubtedly knew those figures off the top of your head. I would have had to look the non-SE info up. ;)

But the posted HP for the R/T have a somewhat higher rating on what the dynos have shown. This same 5.7 in the 2009 Rams is rated at 390. And that is what the dynos are showing. If you think about it 390 vs 425... thats only 35 HP difference and some might think not worth the extra $$$ for an SRT-8. The dealer would have to remind the customer that suspension, brakes and SRT extras as in wheels and interior design are also added. But car guys seem to focus on HP numbers. So why not just say 376 HP and give some room to the SRT-8. If they did the same thing to the 6.1 as they did to the 5.7 the SRT-8s would be putting out over 500 HP. WOW!

I've been told by my insurance guy and I checked with a MOPAR techie that it's the same thing they did back in the day. The HP on the R/T is 372 because insurance goes up at 375 and above. Dodge did this for insuance purposes to help the customer and probably like you said, 35 HP differance from SRT8 who needs to spend the extra money.
