K&N CAI 63-1114 Install Question

A Little Help please. Installings K&N 63-1114 CAI

I am in the process (still waiting to get it) a new K&N CAI 63-1114. In looking under the hood, I noticed there is a box to the left which seems both attached to the engine and the stock intake. What is this for and will there be a problem in installing the new intake once I get this? In another post it was called a "intake expansion tank" and they said to remove and seal it up. How do you seal this if in fact it is connected directly to the block? Any help or advise is greatly appreciated. Oh yeah I have a R/T 2009. Thanks!!

RE: K&N CAI 63-1114 Install Question

If you mean the thing in this thread...

what is this thing?

and I think you do, that will come out with the stock intake. If it is connected to the engine in any way, it is just by a support bracket. That is a noise reduction chamber for the incoming air

RE: K&N CAI 63-1114 Install Question

I installed the same K&N and it was easy. There was no "sealing" up anything. It takes about an hour to install, but you don't have anything to worry about. The big ass stock manifold comes right out and the CAI goes right in. I'm glad I got mine done. I would definitely recommend it.
