Default ballast resistor(s) and wiring woe's...

Quick question (I hope)...I'm having some engine wiring problems with my '73, I have a short or loose wire somewhere. Anyway, looking at the rat's nest of wiring, I see 2 ballast resistors. Is this normal?
Next, has anyone re-wired their engine compartments? If so, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Has anyone had experience with Painless wiring harnesses? I'm thinking of getting one of those to rewire the car. If so, how do I determine which one to get, i.e., 12, 14 or 18 circuit? Thanks for the help!

Hello Robbaker, When I restored my 70. I bought all of my wiring harnesses from Year One. These were expensive but to me worth the money. They were an exact replacement so everything fit right the first time and also looks factory correct. I know of other guys that have used the Painless wires and they liked the products but had to do a lot of work to install. As far as the number of circuts to get it would depend on what and how many accessories you plan to run.

My 70 has 1 ballast resistor but is the double wide [4 terminal]. When I bought the new wiring kit. I ordered it, electronic ignition ready and that is why it uses the double resistor.

Thanks for the advice, Bob. I'll check out Year One. I've found that "Universal" usually means a lot more work involved..
The ballast's; I have the double wide as well as a single wide one. Haven't been able to find out if this is right or incorrect.

The 2 prong ballast is on the wiper motor. I'll check out Evans wiring harnesses, thanks for the info!
