66 Hemi vs all other engines.
Well I got up early Sun. morning, my only day off for the last 3 months. And I turned the TV station to speed channel. American Muscle Car was on and they did a dyno piece on the 60s muscle car engines. Did anyone catch this? It was real entertaining and very informative. i can say that I was quite shocked to see the results. They dynoed all the engines just like they were produced with the exception of a good blue printing and gasket matching. But other than that, they were factory stock. First to be tested was the famous 409 rated by the factory at 409 HP. It produced 406 HP at the crank. Not bad. then they tested the 421 superduty pontiac rated at 380? i can't really remember all the #s. but it dynoed at 420??? Again not too shabby. Then they dynoed the infamous Ford 427 rated at 425. And wow did that blow my mind. 637 HP I believe or close to that. But just WOW! Unbelievable!!! I thought that the gaunlet had been laid. Then the most famous street engine of all lore made its appearance.

RE: 66 Hemi vs all other engines.
Sorry about that, they wanted me to do some work here at work. Anyways the Hemi was factory rated at 425 HP and the dyno pegged out over 800 HP. Man I just about hit the floor. I've heard numbers over the years, but this blows me away. Then the Chevy 427 rated at 425 HP was the last on the dyno and it pushed out a 525 HP figure. The Hemi won hands down, but in my mind they are all winners. Who would of thought that they would put out what they did. Just makes me proud to own a small piece of the action. They are going to have a Engine Dyno 2 and some of the engines they will test AMC-390, Buick-455, Chevy-454 and Olds -455. Can't wait to see how they fair. If you saw this segment let me know what you thought about it. We have bragging rights until then.
