Disc Brake Master Cylinder
 

Hello All,
I am a newbie and need some help. Does some one have a picture or description of the correct brake master cylinder for my '70 Challenger 440 with disc brakes. Seems I do not have the right master, and my brakes are not working right. I am returning it to bone stock and have seen various types but do not really know which would be correct. Any help with casting #'s, or even a photo of one. Thanks for your help!

My 440 RRT/SE has disc in front, drum in back. Master cylinder has two wells, one is bigger than the other. The entire master cylinder is bigger than for drums all arouond. Note that Mopar is known for varying same part number among similar but different applications. My brake line fittings would not tighten down in one master, and I had to replace with a different one that had the cast fitting shaped slightly different so the line fittings would go down all the way and not leak. Part numbers all the same. With aftermarket and rebuild service, you might not know until you install and fill to check for leak.

I ordered mine from NAPA auto parts and they had it the next day. Looks just like the leaky one I removed. Also replaced the front calipers from NAPA and got a set of drilled and sloted rotors from E-Bay. So you can still get the parts for these cars, sometimes you may have to wait a day or two.;)

My experience on availability too. My local NAPA and Car quest sometimes have parts on the shelf. I'm always amazed.

Lear, how do you like those rotors, are they better than OEM? I was thinking about getting a set, but wasn't sure if it was a waste of money.

They are a real good quality piece and seem to do a good job. They were actually cheaper than getting some from Year One. So I took a chance and they seem to be doing a great job.:D
