How can I tell if I have an SE?
I have a 1970 Dodge Challenger that my father passed on to me, I need to know if it is an SE, there have been some confusions as to the VIN numbers and not being able to tell. If anyone has had this problem or knows how exactly to tell, can you let me know?
thanks

An SE has the small back window and all are vinyle tops. They also have the overhead consoul and electric windows. There is also a chrome package that goes with it. I'm sure someone will chime in with the VIN code. Good luck and God bless your father for giving you such a piece of American history.

The JS29 will not prove you have a SE pacakge although you could get a RT/SE with that VIN. Other trim to look for beside the smaller rear window with vinyl roof are rear trim around the taillights and hood trim at the front windsheild. Also look for a small aluminum trim around the front license plate, on the valance. This was only on SE and Western Special. Looking thru the option codes, I would think that the data plate would have the A47 on it.

For the 1970 Challenger if you have a SE you will have the code 29 in your vin. They droped that code for the 1971 Challenger but offered the A78 package instead. So for your 1970 Challenger for you to have a SE. the third and fourth digits will be 29.
So the body codes for a 1970 Challenger are,
23- hardtop
27- convertible
29- special edition
