Sunroof
I have a 72 challenger which when i received it had a sunroof installed which appears aftermarket. However, after personally seeing another 72 with the same type of sunroof installed, i woundered if maybe this could be factory or just luck. I know that sunroofs were an option on 70 and 71 models that did not appear in the vin. However, I did not know of 72-74 models receiving sunroofs. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

RE: Sunroof
Hopefully a member will be able to help you out on this. I will be of no use and I apologize for that. I remember some from the 70s and they were mostly aftermarket. There was a big fad to put them on 70 and 80 model cars. Lots of companies offered them. But the factory also did a few. They were sent off to an off site vendor to have them modified. I believe they were only offered with a vinyl top. After the sun roof was added the vendor co. would return it to the factory to be finished. Or at least thats the way I remember it. And that memory is real cloudy. Tough getting old

RE: Sunroof
Thanks for the info, I have recently decoded my fender tag and it shows the car was built to rally specs but does not have a rally dash (small spedo). It appears to have been ordered with a 340-4 auto 727, dual exhause with chrome tips, rally red paint, and premium audio and a few other goodies found on rallys. No vinyl top is mentioned however.

RE: Sunroof
M51 was the code for a factory sunroof. The Sunroof cars had a vinyl top. The actual sunroof installation was done by ASC, at their own facility, much like Creative industries did the Daytona and Superbird conversions. The Vinyl top was necessary, like the 'Bird, to cover up any scars from surgery.
