Western Sport Special

Some time ago, someone brought up the subject of the Western Sport Special edition of the Challenger, which I'd never heard of before. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the original thread, but here's a link to a European guy's Challenger site that has a section on the topic and a link to someone else's site that features a restored Western Sport Special Challenger:

Once you get to the frames page by clicking on the picture of the Challenger on the home page, click on the 1970 section. Scroll to the very bottom of that page and you'll see the link to the Western Sport Special page.

RE: Western Sport Special

The WSS was an appearance group that was introduced in the fourth quarter of 1969. I think the code is A91 on the fender tag, but I am not too sure. It was mostly an apprearance package as I said, mostly consisting of a vinyl top, pedal dress up kit, belt moldings, wheel well lip moldings and the WSS applique. Most of the WSS cars were built at the Van Nuys plant for LA and SFO regions. More and more Hamtramck-built cars are popping up more and more now, even though records indicate none were ever built there.

One "WSS-T/A" is known to exist, transamcuda.com has the best info on that article. I don't think there were any WSS R/Ts, they were mostly slant and 318 cars.
