Whats a 1972 Challenger Worth?

Hey folks, I've got a 1972 Dodge Challenger with the 318, 2bbl and the auto transmission. It's been sitting for a few years but ran when we parked it. The body has a few of the normal rough spots and the hood has a bit of a bend to it. Pictures of the vehicle and answers to questions are available upon request.

Anyway, down to the question at hand, what do yall think this car is worth? I intend to have it running before trying to sell it.

Thanks.

Hard to say, but you might go to E-Bay and look at what similar cars are bringing in. Look at your factory options and general solidness of the car. Solidness... might be a new word:D Most folks will put in a different drivetrain and engine, so running condition will only help in its mobility at purchase time. Good luck and you might look at E-bay as a way to sell your car. More folks will be involved, from many different areas.

I saw a '72 with a 318 for around 12K about a year ago. It appeared to be in decent condition.

I have Feb 2008 old car price guide and it shows low figure of $1000 up to $28000 for Rallye.

Alot more info is needed. Like it was stated above the drive train is nothing special so I am guessing it is a base model and not a Rallye or SE. What is the color combo? Does it have a slap stick ? What axle (I am guessing 8 1/4) ? But above all Photo's are needed. To be honest you are on the wrong site to get good answers to your question. The alot of the guys here know just enough to give bad answers ( like the guy that swore you could get a Six-pack on a HEMI). You need to go to www.moparts.com or www.alpar.com . There is a site for older e-bodys but I can't remember if it is www.cuda-challenger.com or www.challenger-cuda.com

Nothing wrong with the info you will find in this section. Like all forums you have a few who know too little but want to give advice real bad. But we have answered questions on this section of the forum and helped folks with an answer to their 1970-1974 questions. Don't let a few helping hearts stand for all who post here. The question was not a difficult one... but one of speculation. And when it comes to how much for $$$$. Then its a question of where we stand financialy each and every day. The value of an older car is only what someone will pay you at that time. If things go financialy bad, then I'm sure an older car is not primary on the list of things to buy. So advice I can give anyone that is sure and true at the time (technically) I give, if its speculation... then I will steer a person to a place that can help.;)

All this brings to mind a question. I wonder if enough parts are now available for, say, 1970 Challengers that a person with enough money could build an entire "new" car. [&:]

This can be done with some cars like 56 Chevy or a model T but not the Challenger.
