Default The 6.4 mystery

So who has any insight or info on it the 6.4 will be offered in 10? Thats the ONLY thing at this moment thats keeping me from ordering an 09 is that I want the 6.4 badly,, very badly. BUT I dont want to miss the opportunity to even get a sniff of an 09 if the 10 wont offer the 6.4 And I have to add I just as soon have it with the auto but if its offered with the 6 speed only Ill still wait. I wonder just how much more the 6.4 would offer HP wise over the 6.1 in the Challenger platform.

Not sure why people are waiting and hoping for the 6.4. I mean you can get an 08 or 09, go to http://www.moparsupercenter.com/asm-...temhemisc.html and buy a Mopar supercharger and raise the HP on the Challenger to close to 600 hp with a simple bolt on. I know it doesnt list the Challenger yet but they do have the 6.1 and I am sure this one work on the Challenger very soon. This way..you get the car now, no waiting (except for this crazy wait time for the new 08's) and you get a ton of Horsepower to boot!

Because size does matter. There is no replacement for displacement.

Our image cant be about monster Hemi engines and smoking tires, said Mike Accavitti, director of the Dodge brand, said Monday at a media event to show off the full Challenger lineup. Its about knowing your car looks good, and that you look good driving in it

With statements like this coming from a Dodge director I would now grap a 09 6.1 as the 6.4 might not make the cut in 2010

A true statement there about displacement, but on many occasions I have seen small blocks eat big blocks for lunch.. I know there are many arguments to all of that but from my point of view, I would rather get the car (I have ordered my 09 and it will get the supercharger) now and enjoy it..bolting on power items as I go along then to wait and pray for a larger motor (be real too, .3 of a liter?) in a year or two. With gas prices going through the roof and the car companies cutting back on SUV's and trucks..I think large motors will go also so another factor to get one now. Besides, if you apply the "There is no replacement for displacement" theory to motors back in the day..hard to think that you can say the 440 is a better motor then the 426 just because its bigger.

How about you buy an 09 and then if a 10 comes out with 6.4, then you can sell the 09 and buy the 10.
Hopefully the numbers will still be limited so you wouldn't take much of a loss.
Who knows how much longer Chrysler will be in business. There might not even be a 10.
You can never count on anything happening in the future.

wat do you expect a limited 6.4 challenger to cost? less than 7k more than the6.1? not in any of our wildest dreams.

If its hp you want, just buy a Saleen SMS 5.7 supercharged Challenger for around $58K. It has 500+ hp- same as the 6.4.

If Dodge produces a Challenger with a 6.4 in 2010, it will probably be a limited production model and cost almost as much as a Saleen. Look what they just did with the 2009 SRT by bumping the MSRP up $2K.

Yes, a 440 6 pak would out run a Hemi.
