180 tstat
I am not much of a mechanic or anything, i love the look of old muscle cars and I like to drive them. I see guys talking about the 180 tstat which I assume is a thermastat of some sort. A lot of people seem to be making this change so i was wondering what exactly it does as far as "upgrading" the cars performance. Sorry for what is probably a simple question for you mechanicly inclined folks, I am still trying to learn all this stuff lol. Thanks for any responses.

RE: 180 tstat
It doesn't do much without the Diablo to adjust your fan settings. A combination of the 180 thermostat and adjusting the fan settings can prevent heat soak which has a negative impact on performance.

RE: 180 tstat
It will not void your warranty anymore than a CAI or cat back system will. Knocking 10 to 15 degrees of heat from these engines will not cause any damage.
Thanks for the fan settings, I will try them out.

Whylee you better read up on the "other forums" ....
CAI will void your warranty , read the handbook that came with your car .and so will exhaust there is a 13 page thread "lurking" around.

RE: 180 tstat
I'd do some more research on the 180 stat before I swapped it. These cars run considerably hotter by design and the implications of "cooling" them off could impact your multitude of sensors throughout the car. The 180 swap was a common "upgrade" 10-15 yrs ago, but I don't know that it is as relevant today. And I'm an "old timer".
