6.1 with MDS?

Who thinks that the 6.1 Hemi engine will have the MDS system by the time the Challenger makes production?

I am not worried so much about the gas mileage, but if they make the 6.1 with MDS they may be able to avoid the gas guzzler tax. That means the car would be around $2500 cheaper OTD. What do you guys think?

I'd rather they put a 426 hemi with dual quads in it( offsetting dual quads actually) i dont care about the 2500.00 gas guzzler tax
think about back to 1970 when u could opt for the hemi at only 850.00..not many people did, nor did they realize what they were missing out on at the time. Its just my opinion but lets not let the little things get in our way to owning the badest ass pony car!

If Chevy and Ford can avoid the guzzler tax, I expect Mopar to be able to do it too. The LS7 7.0 liter in the Corvette Z06 with 505 HP does not incur the guzzler tax. Do we expect any less here?

Well, the Charger SRT-8 currently gets hit with the gas guzzler tax, so I'd expect the Challenger to get the same.

I know I am asking a lot what but a great surprise if it was a 6.4L MDS engine.

Keep in mind that the average new car in 1970 cost around 4000 dollars..... I don't think too many folks even today would opt for an engine that adds almost a 25% premium to the pricetag of their new ride! The gas guzzler isn't a big consideration to me; I'd be more concerned that the MDS would operate properly over the long haul, and not become a technological/reliability nightmare as it ages.

I also am not concerned about the Gas guzzler tax but saving money is gas is nice.....that being said an MDS engine better be reliable.

Of course, Cadillac has had that functionality for many years and it seems to work okay.

Well I've always heard that if you really want to own a high performance car you can not concern yourself with the price of gas or insurance.. If you are concerned then perhaps a high performance car is not for you.:(

Gas guzzler. gas hog, gas pig, call it what you want I got to have one..

Actually, gas is not that big a deal since this will not be my daily driver anyway and gas here is currently at $2.59 a gallon for premium and $2.39 for regular.

Don't set your sights to low fellas, it CAN be done. I agree with the desire for speed over the gas guzzler consideration, but today's technology can yeild both!
