Default ATTENTION: 2008 Challengers finaly comming?

ATTENTION :Everyone, I just got a call from a dealer that I've been trying to persuade to sell me a 2008 SRT8 Challenger and he said that on April 4th that he was attending a Ride and Drive event by Dodge where dealers can ride/drive the new Challenger and then drive some of thier alloted cars home to thier respective dealerships. So just a heads up to keep your eyes open at your dealer on or after April4th. Good luck to all! Hope we all get the Challenger we want! fatcat

I agree...I am sure part of the dealer's story is correct, but the part about driving new cars home?? I doubt that...

Dealers pick cars up at the factory and drive them to their dealerships a lot. This can save the dealer a lot of mony on shipping charges which are always passed on to the consumer. I have a friend whos dad used to own Knoeble Chrysler/Plymouth in northern Indiana. He bought his brand new red 71 383 Cuda that way. Which just last year sold at Barret Jackson for $100,000. I also know of a dealer in central indiana who would hire retired folks to ride together in a passenger van to Detroit, and drive back 5 or 6 cars.

that must be the way the do it up north. It would be a used car by time someone drove a new car from Canada to Fla. I guess all of these dealers have passports. They could use the nav system to get back home.

Only a 120 miles. Pick it up at the factory door. If you had ordered a Corvette. You can pick it up at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. across the street from the plant.

Isn't there a certain number of miles beyond which the dealer can't sell the car as new??

there would have to be, if it has has over 5 or 10 miles on it, they'ed better make a deal on it, otherwise I would think it was a demo.

I have to apologise for any missunderstanding I may have caused by not giving enough info about this "Ride & Drive" event. Its a regular thing that car companies do on certain special vehicles but not all the time or every year. This "Ride & Drive" is kind of like a special show thats put on by the factory at different areas of the country at different times as kind of a sales promotion thing where they provide the dealers a night out at a fancy hotel ,with a fancy sit down dinner with some knid of entertainment, breakfast the next morning, then a show the car , pump everybody up about it, then let them look at, drive around a small set up road course and then the dealer gets to drive several of the cars home which are usually cars for stock. This particular event is bing held in the Meadowlands at the Continental Arena and for mostly NJ and NY dealers so they are not really driving the cars that far back to thier dealerships. They may even have or get special relief authorization for the mileage to still sell the cars as new. I actually did this one time for the dealer back in the 80's when GM came out with a special edition " Brooklyn Bridge Anniversary" edtion of the Blazers at that time and the dealer offered me and my wife, ( who at the time worked as office manager at this dealer), the chance to injoy this night and day out if I would drive one of these Blazers home for them. Of course we took the opportunity and had a great time and I really injoyed driving that special edition car back to the dealership! So I hope this explains what I think they are doing with a few Challengers. I just meant to alert you guys so you can keep your eyes and ears open in your area as far as the date goes. LIke anytime on or after April 4th next month you may see some Challengers. LETS HOPE SO. Fatcat
