The local Ford dealer has marked 08 Mustang GT's down to $19,999, MSRP was $27K, lots of incentives to move them. I know the Mustang is not a Challenger but it is interesting pricing, an indicator or how things are selling.
A week ago Saturday, one of the Ford dealers here was advertising a Mustang (obviously V-6) for $13,999. The last time I saw a price like that for a Mustang was during the recession after 9-11.

I think the economy is great. I don't believe in the news media's fear mongering at all. I'm doing better than last year. My sales have increased. Yes there's a subprime mortgage problem but that doesn't mean everything is bad. Don't believe the news media. They are always saying the economy is bad even in the best of times, like the 1960's. Positive news doesn't sell, so the news media is always being negative. I quit watching all news a few weeks ago and I feel so much better. Right now I am just concentrating on increasing my sales as fast as I can and that makes me happy. Negative people bring you down. They decrease your success and happiness. That includes the news media. Whatever you believe in tends to come true for you. If you believe bad things will happen to you, they will. If you believe good things will happen to you, they will. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. That's why I stay positive and optimistic and shun what the news media says. Your financial situation is all up to you and has nothing whatsoever to do with what they call the "economy." It's not a bad economy for you if you're doing well, and there are always ways for you to do well regardless of how well anyone else is doing.

There are some industries that can weather a bad economy better. But it is a bad economy if you are in the auto industry. People are losing their jobs left and right. Turning off the news is not going to help them. It's not going to help the realtors who make their money off commissions when they can't sell a house. It won't help me, I edit videos for tours of homes for sale. My work has virtually dissappeared. It won't help the people who need a new car to get to work and can't get a loan because banks are hoarding the bailout money. This situation is real, it's not just in our minds. You can't fix everything by doing Yoga and reading Rich Dad Poor Dad.

agree Justinec... Im in the restaurant industry and we've seen a slow down over the past two years!!! I guess I could of said I felt this coming, but not this bad, it's scary. I think people will start coming out though next year seems like stability will come back soon, but they say it gets worse before better. I'm optimistic a little I think were at about at rock bottom LOL... If that's optimizim??
Seeing how im in Florida and it's such a tourist state we all thought it was the gas prices that seemed to start the slow down, which is some-what reasonable... but now theres a squeeze on whole entire industries...auto...food...housing etc... the price of food has gone up somewhat with the price of gas, a little too fast and somewhat ridiculous... only bad part it's not really coming back down...

Is that customer purchases though? Or just cars ordered/received by dealers. Since there's still 08s on ebay and probably many more that aren't, they haven't technically sold 6400 of them.
