Challengers arrive in DFW

Hi all,

I received a call this morning from the dealer that I worked with on my order in April (I have since canceled the order) saying that the first of his 3 '08s are in. I was able to briefly check it out this afternoon before the owner picked it up. Dash plaque is #011. Thought I would share the good news that the cars are indeed a reality! Forgot to check the VIN or if the tranny issues were fixed...I couldn't stay and linger.

The black crystal pearl is awesome in the bright sun. Sitting in it was reminiscent of sitting in my '73...same approach to the dash, and same view out the windows all around. Really neat.

Around 6 tonight, I received ANOTHER call from another dealer in the area who I had contacted during my search and said their first one came in as well...another black one.

Apologies for the marginal pics from my phone, but here they are regardless.

For those still with orders, hang in there!

Regards...

Great pics, hopar. It's just too bad the SRTs have those damn real spoilers. They really ruin the lines of the car. Other than that, they're beautiful!

I think the car looks too plain without the rear spoiler.
But I think I might like the wing spoiler better than the wedge spoiler.

Where in Dallas are these dealers?

The pics are at Huffines in Lewisville. The Don Davis (Arlington) rep called me about the other one that came in. I see you are in Frisco...the one at Don Davis may still be there if you are interested in seeing one up close.

I respectfully disagree, love the rear spoiler just wish it was about an inch bigger all around. I think they got the shape of it perfect. It looks old school to the "t". My ex had an 94 maxama with a rear spoiler and it was just gaudy. Jim

I think the rear SRT spoiler look great...very reminiscent of the 1970 T/A...and it also serves a functional purpose. I had a wing on my 1971 'Cuda but really prefer the SRT spoiler.

To each his own.

I too love the TA type spoiler. Without the tail just does not pop..

Wow, the first picture, really allows one to imagine (though I know more prominent in blue oval land) a fast back edition.....the lines kick butt.

I'm sure the spoiler can be removed if you're really so inclined...

Anyway, seeing all these pics of black Challengers are really making me reconsider my embargo of black cars... that just looks absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to see one in person.

I saw in one picture that the black Chally's have a lot of metal flake in the paint. I think that makes it much better than regular black.

Don't get sucked in by the Prince of Darkness...black cars are IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean ad when they are clean show every nic and scratch!!! (But I am sure you know this by your 'embargo'!)

The wifes last car...I made her sell it before we moved to Italy.

I have a black car and it is very difficult to keep clean. Also, scratches, water marks, and swirl marks show very easily in direct sunlight. That being said, a shiny black car is beautiful around dusk.

However, from what I am told, black pearl is a little eaier to keep clean than better than plain black paint.

As much as I love the look of the black, it’s exactly the reason why I ordered the Bright Silver. It is great when clean and not horrid even when dirty in the winter rain, and that’s on my Durango. Anything is really gone look great on this car and would love to have waited for Sublime, but I am not willing to pay a premium for a special limited color so I went with what works great for me.
