After dreaming about getting one of these cars since there were merely rumors floating around that a concept Challenger would be built, I think I'm going to give up on it because the Challenger gets a mediocre rating in Consumer Reports. HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

But if you look at the sporty performance car average the challenger is above it. It also got good scores in the areas that matter with this kind of car. You think a 2 in fuel economy and a 3 in quietness will put off anyone in the market for a V8 powered muscle car? ha! If it was quiet they'd sell less of them!

I believe the scorecard given is probably the perfect formula for a 21st century muscle car!!

That stupid Consumer Reports has everything wrong. Their idea of the perfect car is a Toyota Prius and it has to be Japanese, of course. I couldn't help but notice that the appearance of the car is not even scored! Here are the criteria I put on muscle cars (and my own personal score):
Acceleration 9
Appearance 10
Braking 10
Handling 8 ( well I haven't actually driven one yet...)
Interior 7
Engine sound 9 (the louder the better)
Appearance, Appearance, Appearance.....

You nailed it with the scores. You should have written the Consumer Reports article!

for my 2 cents... it seems that first model year cars are not usually recommend buys by comsumer reports... but i would guess that in the future the challenger is going to be a recommended car to buy [sm=alcoholic.gif]unlike most mercedes and BMW's... which consumer reports shows as not very reliable autos... i dont care how much your car cost.... if it is being towed to the mechanic that is just not cool.
