RE: Dont worry about all Mustangs...

i know of good drivers with suspension mods on NA gts getting into the high 12's . dont know if the callenger could do the same, low 13's best right?

the SRT8 is supposed to be doin low 13's bone stock, not sure I'd wanna do any suspension mods though from what I've read in Car&Driver and a couple other mags, but with the exuast and CAI it should get 13 flat or high 12's easy.I should be getting mine Tuesday and there's a track not more than 30 minutes from me in Bithlo,Fl. so I'll let ya know for sure in about a week.

Bolt on mods. No engine work at all...

CAI - K&N
catback - zoomers
cpu/ems tune - Diablo custom
stall converter - Edge
Drag compound rear tires

high 1.7 60 foot and 12.6 in the quarter. Any bets?

Modest numbers to boot

The mods shown will place me close to 500HP. The converter will show me SRT at launch of 2.40.
If it hooks, and it will, I can see mid 12's before touching the block, or upgrading the TB. 370 cubic inches of pure chewing power :-Þ

Let the fun begin!

this is N/A. Mopar comes out with a SC pushing 4-6lbs and we have a new game.

Andry what is the HP with the CIA and a set of flowmasters 40s oh and what is the cubic engine size?

Shaky

Depending on who you ask, and the brand. The CAI will net you 20-30 HP. The exhaust will give you added power, but with the OE cats you will only see 20+ HP. The exhaust will set you up for later mods, such as the 90MM TB. It also gives you more power down low, or at launch.
You dont starve a fatman (6.1L Hemi), so if he can take it the gas is on me! :-Þ

6.1L = 370 CI

RE: Dont worry about all Mustangs...

It’s not just the HP Shaky. Its how much HP delivered to the tires. The automatic transmission has a higher parasitic loss then a manual, but you have torque multiplication, and consistency with the auto.

So the exhaust and CAI will gain you 40-50 HP at the crank. The more you push through the stock converter, the higher the percentage of parasitic loss. Dodge knew these would be beat with a race hammer. For that reason the automatic transmission benefits them. Rather then break a part; the converter has enough slippage to buffer.
Ford set excess clearances in the Mustang for the same reason.
This slippage deducts from your HP delivered to the tires. Many transmissions are doomed in the Challengers, due to add on mods. It wont be brute force. It will be heat from cavatation, or loss through hydraulics.

Most will never add enough power to worry about heat in an every day driver. I am building a high profile car, and what ever I can get safely from the stock rotating assembly, I want!

Great post!
Do you have any extra custom converters lying around? Thats about all the mod I'd need.
