Has production started?
Has the Brampton plant started production?
|
RE: Has production started?
I called the 1-800 number yesterday to check on my vin number, nothing positive on that issue as of yet. The operator did tell me that production has started and that vehicles are already being rail-headed to dealers here in the states as we spoke. So I guess we should soon get word of hemi-orange challenger sightings on here real soon.

RE: Has production started?
So you are saying some cars are already done and being delivered . Im calling and seeing were my cars at :D
|
RE: Has production started?
Production was scheduled to start on April 21, so I don't think they've started yet. If they had started wouldn't we see code changes to D1?
|
RE: Has production started?
Production is now scheduled for April 14th and within the last week people have started moving into D stauts which means they are about 2 to 3 weeks from beginning production. When we actually have someone move into D1 is when they are actually on the assembly line being built.

RE: Has production started?
All I can say is call yourself and see if you get the same answer as i did. The lady seemed pretty well informed and I don't think she was lying. I asked her if she knew anything on her end about production starting on the challenger in Brampton and she said that production has been going for about two weeks now and that cars were actually waiting to be rail-headed stateside.

Disregard |
RE: Has production started?
I read on Red Letter Dodge, an official dodge site, that production will start in a few weeks.

My boss's comment to me yesterday was " I don't know where you get your information from, but they are rolling Challengers off the line in Brampton " That's what his freind that works in the office at that plant told him. Z |
RE: Has production started?
Is it possible they are just makeing some of the 09 cars for testing on the road .My car is still in D status and I was told today when I call the 800 number they were due to start in a few weeks .
|
RE: Has production started?
Could be, I don't have much more info than what I have stated. But My boss is trying to get me in for a tour through his freind, now that... would be AWESOME.
Z:D |
RE: Has production started?
True that Zman. If you can smuggle some pictures out via camera-phone that'd be pretty sick. Good luck!:)
|
RE: Has production started?
A camera phone, I definately would get tackled, but I could to do the Bond thing and convert one of my shirt buttons into a camera.
Z;) |
RE: Has production started?
Or you could use a camera 10 gallon hat like homer did on the simpsons.

RE: Has production started?
RETAIL PRODUCTION HAS NOT STARTED...
April 21st is still the scheduled "Job1" start date. Slight but unlikely chance this will be moved up a week. A few will roll off the line before then. ONLY pilots have been run so far. Chrysler/Dodge will issue a press release when production starts, this will be "big" news for the company, and believe me they will be all over this. There will be photos of the first one(s) to come down the line, photos showing proud employees arround the vehicle(s). |
RE: Has production started?
What happens to the pilot cars? Do they tear them down to re-use their parts? Keep them for crash testing? Give them hopeful enthusiasts posting on dodgechallenger? ;)
|
RE: Has production started?
I wish the would give them to us, that would be sweet! We deserve it.:D

RE: Has production started?
On allpar someone posted that the 2009 price lists will be out the first week of May.
Also, a factory worker stated that, starting this Monday, consumer orders for 2008 Challengers will start rolling off the assembly line at the rate of 70 cars per day. [sm=happybounce.gif] |

RE: Has production started?
70 a day is a good start but I'm sure that number will increase once that line starts hummin'. :D
|
RE: Has production started?
I just hope there building by vin this would mean my car could be built in the next week or so .
|
RE: Has production started?
It's really tough to figure out how they are sequencing the builds based on some of the VIN's I see shipping. I suppose we have no choice but to keep our fingers crossed and hope they do build by VIN. As long as we've waited for this car it's nice to know the wait will be over soon.
|
RE: Has production started?
if what I read earlier is correct, tupperware blew the vin sequence order/ build. He has a much higher vin than several with a d status. I suppose they are being built and that they go in vin# order but time will tell.
They will have to pick up the pace & build 155 plus cars a day to get them all out by time they take a two week mandatory vacation. |
RE: Has production started?
WOW 70 cars a day. I guess I never thought much about how many were produced in a day. 155 would be truely awsome:D I have never toured a Detroit plant that produces cars and never really comprehended the amount of cars that roll through on any given day. I hope mine is built on a Wed. Middle of the week and middle of the shift;)
|
RE: Has production started?
I hope they are all built by the end of May at least.
|
RE: Has production started?
Well, I actually got to talk to my boss's buddie that works at the plant, apparently they are producing pilot cars off the line to check quality issues, line issues, panel fits etc.... He also said they've been dropping the 6.4 Hemi right into the SRT 6.1 cars, and guess what? they're twisting the rear ends right out of the car. I also found out that out of the production run of 6400 units that are scheduled, he told me that a percentage of them will have the manual tranny in them, go figure, who are they for?

RE: Has production started?
zman I find that hard to believe. If it is true, it sounds like they may be working on 09/10 models - but that can not be, because they need every bit of capacity for pushing the 08's out.
