Modifications
Is anyone of the lucky owners keeping track of the upgrades to their Challenger, and how it affects the performance, and possibly post them for the benifit of other owners and also us spectators.
Thanks Bob |
RE: Modifications
We are currently building a customers Challenger that is using a Mopar CAI, KooKs headers and X-pipe, Corsa cat back (one of the first!), GSM trans and fan controllers, custom stall converter, and a Diablo sport tuner. PLUS it is getting the Stage 2 coilovers.
I cannot dyno the car between mods to give you the break down but will after the build. This is mostly because it is brand new and partially because of logistics. It will be cool though. This same customer is also getting a 09' 6 spd. We will be installing much of the usable mods the same as the first car on the second with the addition of the first Production Paxton/Vortech S/C system. Needless to say this will be one sick ride even if it is 4000#! I am lucky enough to be able to see hundreds of cars through the year based on the fact we are the largest Viper/SRT dealer/modification store in the world. We have specialized for years in Vipers and are lucky to have Viper owners willing to trust us with the purchase and modification of their new additions. I will try to be a useful part of your community and if you have any questions I may be able to help with please feel free to contact me day or night. |
RE: Modifications
Sounds like you might have a lot of interesting mods. Keep us/me informed.

RE: Modifications
I had hoped to be able to give a break down per mod, but with the exception of the exhaust, the rest will be installed in a couple day period. I will know by seat of pants feel, but until I run for times and do the math it's just a informed guess.
The stock Challenger shows 377 HP, and 374 pf of torque at the tires. That's better then 12% parasitic loss. I would be happy with 480-480 at the tires, and that's the first goal. |
RE: Modifications
Problem is the stock automatic will loose better than 23% to the wheels without trying. The car on a properly run dyno (Mustang dyno) will show 320s at the wheels. Even if you were on an optimistic Dynojet you would only be around 365.
Basic bolt ons not adding lineraly will maybe net 50-60 crank hp if you are lucky. Don't believe everything you read is all I'm saying. RE: Modifications
I did not read the numbers, I saw them. I think we are on the same page though. The 377 was at lock up on the converter. I would put the 722.6 at 8-10% loss on just stock components. The more power to try to put through the greater the percentage lost. Much can be done with the converter to help bring the engine, and rear wheel numbers closer together.
I know different dynos will show different numbers. This is why I think a dyno is great to tune, but I don’t put any faith in the actual numbers produced. |
RE: Modifications
installed my mopar cold air intake today, ehxuast shounds better and car has way more getup.

RE: Modifications
Has anyone purchased any of the dressup items?
I purchased the Challenger door sills from www.moparsupercenter. This web site will save you a few bucks over the dealer's price. |
RE: Modifications
Door sills, pedal upgrades, and floor mats. I got a mopar CAI on order. I am shopping around of the costs of upping the HP 50-100. Franks racing is the closest and has the most history in my area but I'm open to all shops. I want the HP and still have a daily driver that could go cross country. Jim |
RE: Modifications
Is anyone happy with it stock? I am and I dont get why so many people mod it out. wont you end up with a FORD. (Fd Over Rebuilt Dodge)??

RE: Modifications
Only Mods Im planning on are:
CAI: MOPAR Exhaust: Zoomers if I can afford it. Door Sill Plates: MOPAR And I want to get an aluminum colored center console and instrument panel cover to make the interior pop a bit. I think I saw a place to get the center cover, but no Idea how I will get the instrument panel done yet. I want it to look like the preproduction model in this pic. |

Anyone have any info on this product yet? I'm just curious about how it sounds. They are $1698 at Mopar Supercenter. With a price comparable to the Zoomers, Im wondering if they are as good. RE: Modifications
108Challenger, how hard was it to get the insignia off the grille? Were they mounted with tape or screwed on?
|
RE: Modifications
There press on, challenger emblem has 3 areas you get your fingers behind them and push, pops right off. srt emblem has 2 just put your fingers in between the grill and push the brakets out. I think it looks awsome all black.

I've been in contact with Eibach, KW and Hotchkis for the last 9 months and still have no listing for order information! Even offered up my car for testing but they were looking for locals (SoCal) I'm in Washington state. Is the system you're talking about...The Dodge Charger listing KW has on thier website? Do you know if all the systems out there for the charger.....will fit the challenger? I'm an avid PCA,SCCA,WWSCC auto-crosser and road course participant...and plan on hitting some events with my Challenger! Any info you can share with me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |
RE: Modifications
Yes the current platform Stage kits from Mopar will work on the Challenger just fine. The Stage 2 may not be what YOU are looking for but you can find parts out there based on the fact they are interchangable.
We do buisness all over the world so call if you need anything. I to am a National caliber Auto crosser and have been involved with the SCCA for 20 years. I do track instruction at the 2 local to me tracks and help with instruction for Viper Days events along with Chrysler promo events so I can help with other things also. I was Mark Jorgensen 99ESP in a whit 98' Cobra if that rings a bell. Thanks A fellow track guy..Nice to meet you. Ive never followed the SCCA out of the state of Washington but have made many a trip to Kansas for the PCA nationals…914 Open Mod. I’ve been run with Fordal Motorsports for the better part of 20 years. I sold my last Porsche when the youngest of my 4 girls came along. So Im really leaning towards the Eibach Pro Street S SRT8 Charger PN 2893.711 and the Hotchkis SRT8 Charger SKU-22101 bars. Do you know if I can throw these on? Can you tell me what the stock spring rate front and rear is on the challenger? I got my car last Friday and have been out testing it. I was surprised how close they got it! Too much under steer and sway for me but all in all pretty good. Again I thank you for taking the time to help me out and I value your input! Its been 20 years since Ive wrenched on anything but a Porsche but what better way to start but with a retro version that started to speed fever 25 years ago! Gregory |
