Observations & Ramblings from a new Challenger Owner
First of all, my car is a 2009 Challenger R/T, TorRed, 6 speed, 20" Wheels, 3.92 gear, Sunroof...
1. I was light-headed & felt queasy on the way to pick it up. I didn't hear a word my wife said between home & the dealer. I was in another world, i felt the same when i drove my wife to the hospital when we were expecting our first child.
2. When you see it for the first time, you still can't believe you will actually be leaving WITH this car. It will be days until it sinks-in that you really own it.
3. It makes you drive like an idiot. You cannot make rational thoughts like, "no, i shouldn't pass this guy (doing 70 mph) because he's going fast enough".
4. You make up any reason to leave the house. You seem inclined to "run all those errand's" you've been avoiding.
5. You volunteer to drive people places, sometimes complete strangers.
6. You visit friends you haven't seen in years.
7. Gas prices & mileage are not important anymore. You whistle while you pump, because you cannot wait to turn liquid gold into exhaust vapors.
8. You own the car for days until you finally realize..."hey, it has a stereo too?"
9. The engine & exhaust sounds even make your wife smile.
10. The car makes people do funny things, like illegal u-turns, take pictures, and talk to themselves. Many people seem to have a problem keeping their jaw up.
11. You justify yet another smoky burnout despite the fact you know the back tires are really expensive.
12. Fifth to third downshifts are as entertaining as the first hill of your favorite rollercoaster ride, and the line is shorter.
13. Even though you are an "adult" you cannot resist flipping off the manager at the other local dealership-that-wanted-5k-over-sticker-as-you-slowly-drive-through-their-lot, smiling of course. A_ _holes.
14. You can't seem to ever leave the garage, and have lost count of how many laps you have walked around the car.
15. You called Meguiar's to inquire about becoming a dealer because you are using Quik Detailer at an alarming rate. You begin to wonder if the paint will rub off from too much cleaning.
16. Your wife "suddenly doesn't mind driving a standard again"
17. Rain sends you into a deep depression because you have to drive "the other car".
18. Giving people rides is like being santa claus!
19. The effect the car has on people from 10 year old kids to senior citizens.
20. The grin...It's all about the grin.

Very nice Jeffco! A never ending thread of people loving their cars and it never gets old. It is very satisfying hearing each persons thoughts and impressions and then comparing them. It sure makes the wait bearable (almost) knowing you are waiting for pure heaven on earth!
